Hello all, 

The SCRD has decided not to Appeal the ruling by Justice Butler which quashed our Local Health Board's "Stop Work Order".  Many people on the Coast think that this is a mistake, including West Coast Environmental Law's Andrew Gage.  We feel that it is important to challenge this and that our Local Government should lead the way.

Please come to the SCRD Board Meeting next Thursday,  Oct. 25th, 7:30pm, at the Field Road Office, to request the SCRD reconsider their decision,  and move forward to challenge the Judge's ruling.

Also please let your regional director know your feelings in a simple email, phone call or letter.  The SCRD's email address is watersheds@scrd.ca You can address your email to your director or to the Board.  Letters to the editor for next week are also important.

We feel that the SCRD must Appeal the decision by Justice Butler to quash the LHB's Stop Work Order.  The Chapman Creek Watershed has to be protected from all industrial activities.  This is critical for the Citizens of the Sunshine Coast, and the laws must be changed so that all Watersheds in BC are Protected as they are in Vancouver and Victoria.  We ask that you please reconsider your decision not to appeal!
