Good Morning!

I've just received this notice that the SCRD has decided not to appeal the decision of Justice Butler in the case of the SCRD vs Western Forest Products.

I'm a little disappointed that the SCRD didn't talk to us (the other respondents) or hear from the public before taking this step. I don't think this decision is "carved in stone" just yet because the appeal deadline isn't until November 9 and the SCRD could still hear from the public........

The SCCA's counsel has advised that there are solid grounds for appealing this decision. These grounds relate to Judge Butler's mangling of the Health Act. I believe that Judge Butler's decision creates a problem for all communities in BC. It can and needs to be challenged.

Perhaps the SCRD needs to hear from the public. Are we up for the task?

Cheers, Daniel
